5 weeks old: cow hooves are fun

Inspired by Auntie Flute, these girls enjoy playing with cow hooves.

"I've got teeth now--very sharp teeth!--and I'm gonna use them," proclaims this girl.

"Nursing requires proper supervision"

asserts Flute.

It is amazing that Iska does not mind Flute sitting in the box with her while she nurses.

After finishing nursing, Iska jumps out of the box and one pup climbs out after her and ambushes her for some more nursing.

Flute and the remaining pups lean out of the box to watch the nursing escapee.

Nursing is also, apparently, a spectator sport.

Pup or baby werewolf?

You decide.

Here is the adorable girl up close. This pup is so cute. I can't stand it. She is also incredibly sweet and cuddly.

Each week there seems to be a Star. This week it is this girl.

So cute, so bad--a pictorial of oppression

One girl's comfort is very important ... to that girl!!

"What do you expect from a STAR?," asks DPNSG.

This is clearly a rhetorical question ...

Flute dreams of pups all to herself

Iska decided to sleep with my husband, rather than in with me and the pups.

Flute was only too happy to finally have the pups to herself :-).

Flute takes over

Pups seem to have no problem with Auntie Flute in charge!

Meal Al Fresco

Pups are now spending time outside for playing and eating (weather permitting).

Here are photos of the pups after eating, covered in parts of their meal. They will lick each other and Iska will also help clean them, but, sadly, most of the clean-up falls to me.

Pups are well-acquainted with warm water and wash cloth post-meal baths, followed by "dry cycle" of toweling off.

In the video, you can see and hear them enjoying a meal. They are eating ground boiled barley, goat milk, full-fat plain yogurt and raw lean ground sirloin. As the week progressed, they had water-softened, ground kibble (Purina Pro Plan Salmon and Rice) gradually added to the mixture to begin the transition to eating dog food.

All clean and feeling frisky

Here you see Pepper & Salt girl enjoying tug of war with the towel that was used to dry her after her post-meal bath. I was using it to dry one of her sisters and PS girl nabbed the towel. You can see the not dry sister in the box where I put her when I grabbed the camera to record the tug-of-war.

The sister do battle after a second girl is dried off and returned to the box to join PS girl.
